Glutathione - Your Frontline for Good Health!

Your life depends on glutathione.

Now that I’ve got your attention, let me explain.

Glutathione is a small protein that is produced naturally in the body. It has a very important role to play in the maintenance of health.

Without it your body wouldn’t be able to resist disease and your liver would become over-run with toxins. Our immune systems are constantly under attack from pathogens and toxins; present in our environments and as by-products of some of our bodily systems.

The body needs a steady supply of glutathione to counteract the damage done by those attacks on your cells.

Increased interest in the role of glutathione has come about due to a variety of societal and environmental factors. Turn on your television and you are bombarded with stories about the growing resistance of infections to antibiotics. Trying to stay healthy can feel like a walk through a minefield; cancer, AIDS, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s.

It begins to seem that it’s not a matter of if, but when, you will be afflicted with something. Also, as the population ages, society will need to focus on how to contend with the rising rates of illness associated with aging.

Then we have environmental problems to worry about; ozone depletion, pollution and toxic chemicals to name a few. The stress of living in our modern world can be overwhelming. Glutathione is the compound that helps your body cope with that stress.

If glutathione (GSH) is so important, why are you only hearing about it now?

Well, scientists and doctors have known about it for years but it is only recently that they have figured out a way to help the body raise glutathione levels without resorting to drugs that have side effects.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking more about what glutathione is; why it’s important and how to improve your body’s glutathione production.
